Uploading more than one picture....

Well, I am trying to figure out why I cannot post more than one picture at a time. I just did a "help" search and it told me this was possible, but I was going about it the wrong way. I am a computer duhhhh so sometimes it takes awhile for me to catch up to speed! But...I am posting this only to see if what I just read will work. Sooooo it it goes.......

Mini cover

Well, I think I completed the front cover of my mini. I just love the paper, but it is a very busy pattern, so I tried not to go over board and have too much on it. I LOVE pearls and used many on here, but maybe it'll be okay. I went back after this pic was taken and added some gold Glimmer Mist to the tag. I am in the minority. Still not a huge fan of GM.  I know...I am the only one that's not!  My #1 fan, my husband, is not at home so I will have to wing it on the cover. I like to get his opinion on my crafts. He has a pretty good eye for balancing things out. Kind of helps me know when to stop with the embellishments! I still don't have a theme for the mini. I would love to make it for my Mom, but she just doesn't appreciate the hard work to complete a page or mini. She does love my homemade cards tho. So I have gotten thru to her on that! In the past when I have showed her an album, she just says scrapbooking is just too much trouble...just throw the pics in a photo album. Oh nooo. Can't do that! Then I thought of my cousin that died last September. She would have totally love this album, but her sister who I would give the book to is almost blind. So back to square one. Oh well....now to decorate the inside.

K&Company & Linen Closet Mini

It feels so good to be able to sit down and scrap. With my two Grands here this summer it really took a backseat while I was having fun with them. But now they are back in Fort Worth and I have tons of pics to scrap! I started this mini this weekend and all that is left now is to embellish it. I think I want to use a lot of ribbons and flowers, but that part will have to wait until tomorrow. I need to get showered and off to work! Enjoy....

Lot's of new yummy's!

It has been a great shopping weekend for me so far. Yesterday I picked up my Stampin Up order from Andrea  http://www.stampinup.net/esuite/home/andreaclayton/ . I ordered the cutest stamp set. It is the Greeting Card Kids # 120633 shown above. It is soooo adorable! If they have anything this year to go on a wait list, this would be the stamp set to do it. Totally cute and I can't wait to use it. I also bought the Large Tab Punch. I have been wanting this for so long. It is great with the mini's I love to make. Then today Rick and I went to Cullman for lunch at our favorite Mexican restaurant. It was delicious as always. Afterwards we went to my favorite local scrapbook store...  http://www.scrapinkats.com/ I am making an Autumn mini and a Exploding envelope mini and needed some fall papers to make them. I forgot Kathy now has a Hoarder's Closet in the back of her store. It is a large room off her main store filled with tons of older goodies. I found several nice items to take home. It was a quick trip because Rick was sitting out in the truck with a sore back, looking at his watch, waiting on me. After getting back in the car I remembered that I totally forgot to get paper for my Exploding envelope mini. I have tons of paper at home, but I needed 12 pieces of paper, 4 sheets each of the same paper, so we stopped by Hobby Lobby which is just across the street and I ran in there for the paper. While there I "happened" to stop by the Spellbinders section and found the Label One at 30% off! I have searched and looked everywhere for this set, but couldn't find it anywhere. Becca Feeken at SplitCoasters is famous in using these on her beautiful projects. Well, time for me to get busy. I just signed up for a tag swap with Kathy Files at http://paperphenomenon.blogspot.com/ and I am sure she would love it if I got busy with the required five tags I have to make. Night-night.

Our garden is slowly winding down

Our garden and flower beds were so fickle this summer. We had a very cold winter with snow five times this year and our dirt just didn't want to warm up at the normal time as it has before. My husband is a stickler for planting certain things at specific ground temperature. He gets with his garden buddies and they exchange all of these tips, hints, and garden recipes with each other. Anything they say is the Gospel in Rick's eyes.  Well, he waited on planting the okra until the ground was a certain temperature this spring, which didn't happen as early as last year. So now most of our garden has petered out, but our okra is just taking off. We planted corn for the first time this year and it was wonderful! It is all nicely cleaned and frozen in the freezer. Our carrots were planted too close to each other and as a result the baby carrots were long and thin. Just too much trouble to clean as they were, so they were trashed. Next summer we will space them better. Our crook neck squash was nice until the dreaded mildew got to it along with our cantaloupes, pumpkins, and watermelon. They were loaded too, but just as they were getting to be a nice size, the mildew zapped them. We also had some huge gross beetles and multiple tiny grasshoppers that swarmed and invaded our garden. Our tomatoes are overflowing with fruit. I made some delicious Salsa today using jalapenos, garlic, and tomatoes from our garden. This was the first time for me to attempt making it and it turned out so good! I have the onion breath and indigestion to show for it tonight! Mainly the few vegetables we have left are bell peppers, jalapenos. tomatoes, and the okra. We are already thinking of planting a fall garden with cool crops, but other than lettuce, and we are not big salad eaters, we really don't have any idea on what we can plant. A guess a Google search will answer our questions there. LOL. Next year we have plans for a few more plants. Not too many, but we would like to plant some green beans and maybe some herbs. Here is a picture of our garden when it was all growing nicely. In the front center we planted Cone Flowers for color. They really added to the beauty of the garden.

Madison at the Splash Pad

          Wow. It has been awhile since I have posted on here! Just not enough time for my blog. My husband and I had our oldest Granddaughter, Alexandria at our house for seven weeks and our youngest, Madison was here the first week and returned for the last three weeks while her babysitter was on vacation. We had a very busy summer with our Grands and loved every minute of it! But, the fun has come to an end. Ashley flew to Alabama for the weekend and they all flew home yesterday. Now our house is quiet and still. No small feet running through the house, no baby saying "I need milky", and the phone is not ringing off the hook with Alex's friends calling wanting her to play and come over and swim. Boy, times like this makes me miss when my two girls were babies. They grew up way too fast. We loved every minute of them being with us.....well maybe not the attitude at times. LOL. My camera was always in hand and dust never had time to settle on it. I took so many pictures, but I felt like I needed to. My Grands Momma, my oldest daughter Ashley, rarely takes pictures. I bought her a nice digital camera and a camcorder, but they seldom get used. She loves to look at the pics I take tho. My youngest daughter does much better, but she is not the picture addict I am. Oh well....I have to get them when I can. I now have many to choose from for the albums and scrapbook pages I have planned. My scraproom was a wreck during the time they were here, but we still got in there and played. I also discovered one of my neighbor's loves to scrapbook. So we have plans of going to my monthly Stampin Up class together and attending local crops in our area. Her husband just surprised her with the Cricut Expression and she is ready to get it out of the box. Here are several pictures of the fun we had this summer. No DSL

Our DSL at home went out early Saturday morning and had to go back to using Dial Up. At first I thought why am I paying for DSL? The connection was zip, zip. Then.....I tried to upload a pic and go to my favorite site YouTube.com and it never fully happened. I am missing my DSL big time now! Not sure what day I will get my box replaced, but I hope it's quick!!

My First Stampin Up Order

Not many people would understand my excitement about posting this picture, but anyone that scraps, stamps, or makes cards would understand. I have never ordered but just one or two things from SU and was sooo excited to place a large order. Their shipping fees have always held me back before, but I finally gave in and bought several things I had been drooling over. This is a pic of my first of three Stampin Up orders. Shortly after receiving this I was reading someone's blog and they mentioned SU just made tons of items available on clearance. So I went back and placed another order. The very next day, another blog saying more items placed in the clearance section. So I went back for a third and final time and ordered a few more things. I bought every paper pack they had listed, along with some stamping wheels, ribbons, and buttons. I have not looked since. Too dangerous for me. I meant to get a pic of the other orders, but totally forgot when I started looking at all of the pretty papers! I am totally loving everything I have bought so far!

This is my new niece...Mattisyn. She is sooo adorable and pretty in pink! She was born on March 02, 2010. My sister Audrey has waited many years to be a Granny and is loving every minute of this sweet baby. My sister Brenda just went to NY this weekend to meet her. Taunia is a little over thirty and has prayed for a family for many years. At one point she was considering artifical insemination before she turned 35. Then just a little over two years ago, she met her husband and they married in September 2008 and now they have this beautiful blessing. She also has a Wonderful Life!

The Easter Bunny

I was sitting here at the computer in the front of our house and saw this flash of white outside my window. I looked up and saw someone on a scooter dressed as the Easter Bunny. I quickly grabbed my camera and rushed out the front door. It was a friend of our neighbors who is having an Easter egg hunt at their house. He sweetly let me take his pic and then returned a few minutes late with an egg! How sweet!

I just talked with my Granddaughter and asked if they were doing eggs today for the EB and she said yes once her cousin comes over this afternoon. I sure hope someone takes pics of this and send me a few! I love my pics and it's hard to enjoy these Holidays when our kids all live out of state.

Madison's Pappy's

Alex and Madison was at my house for Spring Break the middle of March. After they got back home Ashley called and said "Mom, do you know what happened to all of Madison's pappy's? I don't have that many of them" I told her I would look, but that I tried to find all I could when she went home. Well, last week while sorting thru my punch drawer I found one of her pappy's and this morning Rick came in from the garage showing me one of my old containers he had placed in the garage. I can now tell Ash that I found two more! Sweet baby!!

Emily

This is my youngest daughter Emily Kay. She is also my favorite youngest daughter. I have a favorite oldest daughter too! We laugh about being Mom's favorite all the time. For years whenever I go on vacation to a condo or hotel, I always take a washcloth and bring it home. My husband scoldes me each time, but it's just something I do. While Em lived here I would just wash it and add it to my household linens. But when Em moved to Fort Worth several years ago I started giving them to her. She always knew when she unpacked her suitcase, somewhere in there she would find it. When Rick and I go on vacation alone, I still get one and whenever I see Em or happen to send a package to the girls, I will tuck it away in the box and a note on where it came from. She has come to expect them and enjoys our little exchange. Two weekends ago we drove to Monroe LA to meet my girls and Jeremy. We had both Grands here for one week while Alex was out for Spring Break and it was time for them to go home. My kids had spent the previous night enjoying a fun night at one of the casino's in Sheveport and spent the night at the casino hotel and left the following morning to meet us. After a nice lunch and then going to the cars to transfer the kids stuff back to Ashley's car, Em said "Mom, I got you something" and handed me a small bag. Inside it, you guessed it, it was a hotel washcloth!! I thought that was soooo sweet! A fun, small exchange that was full of sweet memories for both of us! I love you Emily!

I just received this cute pic from my daughter. These are my sweet Grands, Alexandria 9 years old and Madison 2 years old. Sweet little girls! Gamma loves you both!

Four Smirk cards

I bought these adorable stamps and paper pack from ScrapinKats in Cullman. Kathy has a FULL store of everything for scraping and card making. I just love visiting her store. The bonus is she is one of the nicest people you would want to meet. Anyway... I laid the paper pack out knowing I wanted to do a few cards today, but last night with me not feeling good with a sore throat and fever I sat up all night under the influence of Day-Quil and had a good time. My most favorite is the blue card. My least favorite is the one with the tree. I thought the little people would show up better on the paper, but didn't. I am thinking of redoing that card anyway. You can't tell by the pic, but I have little rain drops coming down under the clouds. Fun idea, but the card may be too busy. Oh well I just proud of myself that I used some of these pretty things and they didn't get filed away on a shelf! Yaa me!

Mom

I'm getting scared about my Mom's health and well being. Double bi-pass in August. They drove to Florida six weeks after surgery for the winter. Discovered their roof had leaked all summer and they had a moderate amount of mold and mildrew. Mom spent one month cleaning the mess and then had a nasty stroke on January 2nd. The wonderful thing was she recovered nicely, but now two months later, she has stepped back in her recovery. She tells us she has fallen three times in the last month, which I never knew anything about until this week. Now she feels like it's not easy to take a deep breath and she also is back to using her walker. She did see one of her doctor's today, but in her opinion they were just pushing her aside and she told them either take my symptoms serious or she would be changing doctor's. Very surprising for her to say that, because Mom is a great patient, more patient than I would have been over the last two months. They did a chest xray, but will not have the result until tomorrow. Mom has never mentioned the mold issue to any of her doctor's, but I think it's time to throw caution to the wind and call and inform them and see if this at all makes a difference in her recovery. I would be so heart broken if I knew there is an issue and I swept it under the rug. I may get Mom mad when she finds out I have mentioned the mold to her doctor's, but for me to sleep good at night...I have too whether she gets mad at me or not. Her life depends on us taking care of her to the best of our abilities. I love my Momma and cannot image life without her.

Changing the name of my blog

One of my most favorite movies is It's A Wonderful Life. George Bailey truly had a wonderful life and he realized it when it was taken from him. I feel the same way and like so many of us living in a too busy life, I feel I don't always show my appreciation of my husband, good health, and life in general. I do have a wonderful life. Totally happy in the middle of it, but neglectful in showing my love and appreciation in what little things I have that are actually large things. So....changing my blog title to remind me every day on how thankful I should be and am!

My Scrapbook Room

Both of my Granddaughter's will be at my house for springbreak in March. My oldest Granddaughter Alexandria, loves to scrap with me, but recently my room has looked like a hurricaine has gone thru it. Not sure why but when I cook and scrap, I have to use everything in the room and make a huge mess! I just spent three days cleaning this up and getting everything close to where it belongs. Not sure how long it will last! While it is clean, I thought I would take a few pics. May not be this clean again for a long time! This is my favorite new gadget. A ATG adhesive gun! Best of all I bought it for only $9.00 at my local Scrapbook garage sale! I almost ordered one online for $69.00. How lucky am I???

Snow!

Well, the Birmingham area was hit by another bout of snow. The total amount varies around town. We received around three to four inches. All expressway ramps are closed for the evening. A thaw out is expected between nine and ten in the morning. This is almost a record for our area. Third time for us this winter. I am hoping it's our last occurance. It's beautiful to look at, but too risky to drive in if it's not necessary.

Rick's Gall Bladder Surgery

Well, it hasn't been boring around our house! Sunday night Rick went to bed around 9:00 PM. Two hours later he woke up and said he was having horrible stomach pains. He took some mylanta and walked around some, but the pain just increased. From there we decided the next step was the emergency room. We were seen promptly on arrival. The clerk mentioned the night before there was a four to five hour wait. After two injections of Morphine with no help, he was given Dilaudid and was able to get some relief from the acute pain. From there he was admitted and put on the standby list for gall bladder surgery. His surgery was at 9:00 AM, he was out of surgery at 10:00 AM, eating jello at 1:00 PM, and home at 6:00 PM. We both fell in the bed early last night by 8:30 PM and slept thru the night. Man, we have had an eventful 2010 so far. It's someone else's turn to have all of this fun!

Well, I finally sat down long enough to use some of my stuff and made a Valentine card. I actually need about nine more, so I'll be busy this weekend. I started off with a total different idea, so maybe I'll do the next one like that.

Shopping!

I am sooo excited. One of our LSS is having a garage sale this weekend. I live an hour away and because of that I was allowed to go thru all of the goodies yesterday when I dropped my stuff off. I found tons of great buys! My best buy was an ATG 714 gun for only $9.00!! No tape in it, but I ordered three rolls today for $3.00 each here. http://www.cropandstick.com/p-300-3m-scotch-atg-908-gold.aspx I can't wait to recieve it and be able to use it for both card making and scrapbooking. From the same lady I bought several Stampin Up stamp sets and paper. Just loads of cool stuff. Then today I went to JoAnn's, Michaels, Sir Stamps A Lot, and then Hobby Lobby. Needless to say I need to stay away from anymore stores for the rest of February!

Mom is HOME!

Kind of late posting this, but boy...we have been so busy around the house. Mom was released Thursday afternoon and was sooo excited to step in the van and know she was going home! She felt like a bird being let out of it's cage. Her husband Wayne told everyone he met that his wife was in the hospital for twenty-eight days and finally going home. He was so tired of driving the fifty minutes round trip each day. But she is now home and happy as a lark. She will be on Home Health Care for several weeks, including physical and speech therapy. Her appetite is good, but she is very tired. She has been thru so much since August. Our family is hoping and praying that her life can now settle down and she can enjoy it!

Getting closer to going home!

Mom is slowly, but surely getting better every day. Sunday she was elevated to a moderate soft diet! I will have to ask again what her first meal was, but her second lunch was puried beef roast and gravy, mashed potatoes, puried peas, and applesauce. Today for breakfast she had Cream of Wheat and scrambled eggs. For lunch she had spaghetti and meatballs! I get excited with every increased step of her meal plan. When I talked with her EENT, she mentioned Mom will have to be on a regular diet for a twenty-four hour duration before they even consider letting her go home. Of course she still has a residual cold and slightly elevated heart rate. They are still tweaking her heartrate with medications. We want that to be totally in a normal range before she is discharged. Mom will be on pins and needles if it is not regulated. She'll upset herself unneccessarly if she is not comfortable with her home care. I am flying to Tampa tomorrow for a week. I can't wait to see Mom and have this special time with her. We have had two nasty scares since August. Her emergency double bi-pass surgery and now dealing with her stroke. I have always called my Mom a tough old bird and she has proved me right again! I am so thankful for every day I am given with my Mom and praying for many more years to come!

Update on Mom

Mom has now been in the hospital for almost one month. It has been a very challenging time for both her and our family. Every week there has been a new terror and fear dealing with Mom's health. I know we are totally blessed to have my sweet Momma still with us. After all she is seventy-seven. None of us consider her "old." She has always run circles around all of us. Energy for two people, but I am still asking the Lord for many, many more years to have with her alive and well. Her husband, Wayne has been wonderful and patient with her. This has been emotional on him too and wearing on him physically. He is having to drive about an hour and half every day round trip. My youngest sister flew to Tampa last month. I am flying out this Wednesday for a week, and then one of my older sisters will fly in next week. Mom's actual home is in northern Michigan, but they have a winter home in Florida. No one expected any further issues once she was released six weeks post operative from her bi-pass surgery the end of August. The end of October they packed and traveled to Zephyrhills for the winter. When they arrived they found their new roof they had installed late last summer, had leaked inside their closed, hot, and humid house all summer causing a large amount of mold and mildew on their clothes and furniture. It also damaged the ceilings and walls. Mom spent the first month on her own cleaning and washing everything in site. We all suggested for her to hire someone to do the majority of the cleaning, but Mom wouldn't heed our advise and elected to take care of it herself. We are sure this was just too much to her heart and body so soon following her open heart surgery. So on January 2nd she had a nasty stroke and from one issue to another, she is still in the hospital. This week she is battling a fever and chest cold with hopes that it will not progress to Pneunomia. My sister also mentioned a possible UTI. Bless her heart. Today she was put on a soft diet, being upgraded from a liquid diet. For almost three weeks she was on an NPO status because of the condition of Zenker's Diverticulum being diagnosed and aggraviated by a failed oral test checking for possible blood clots around her heart. The doctor attempted over and over to perform this test, not stopping to realize there was a real condition baring him from completing this test. Once it was realized her poor throat was torn up, irriated, and so swollen that she was not able to even swallow her own spit for almost three weeks. Needless to say that doctor is no longer on Mom's medical team. When I talked with Mom's EENT last week, who is serving as her primary care physician, she mentioned Mom will continue to heal at home and once she has been on a regular diet for a twenty-four hour period, she will be released for home. This is what we are all looking forward to. Mom the most I think!

Mom's stroke

Last weekend I received a call from my sister Brenda that Mom had a possible stroke or heart attack and was being taken to a Tampa Hospital. Wayne said they were both in the livingroom and he noticed that she was rocking back and forth in the recliner. Upon asking her what she was doing, she slurred that she was trying to get up and use the restroom. Not realizing she was ill, Wayne attemped to walk her down the hall to the bathroom, but half way there with most of her weight on Wayne and him not being able to physically hold her up, they fell on each other, turned around, and together stumbled back to the recliner. From there 911 was immediately called and she was taken by ambulance to the hospital. The doctor's told Wayne the best thing he did was for him to call 911 so quick. It may have saved her life. Mom has done so good after her open heart surgery in August. They have a winter home in Zephyrhills Florida were they normally stay from October to May each year from Michigan's cold winter. None of us girls wanted them to go this year, but no one spoke up and voiced their fears either. We were all concerned that it was just too soon for them to travel and be so far away from family. We all wished they would either delay their trip or just cancel it this year, but around six weeks after her surgery they made the trip south. It didn't take me too long on the phone with the help of a wonderful switch board operator to locate which emergency room Mom was taken to. Within a few hours she was diagnosed with a moderate stroke with paralyzes on her left side and continued slurring of her speech. Her doctor's in Florida quickly and mutually agreed that following her surgery, she should never have been taken off Plavix following her bi-pass. She needed it more after surgery than before, but her cardiologist in Michigan thought she was over medicated and took her off this medicine shortly after her surgery. We will always wonder if her stroke could have been avoided if she was still taking this. The results from her first CT scan revealed another previously undetected stoke. Poor Mom, she had test after test. Around the third day in the hospital, they scheduled another test that would detect if there was the danger of a lingering blood clot in the area of her heart. This would be done orally from her mouth to her heart. While attempting this test, they found an obstruction in her throat and had to terminate the procedure. Another CT showed the diagnosis of Zenker's Diverticulum. Which is in the family of diverticulosis. The test itself caused a horrible sore throat with severe swelling, inflamation, and pain throughout her throat causing Mom not to be able to swallow. She was also started on physical therapy for the paralyzes. Within a short time there was a great improvement of movement in her left arm and leg. Today, one week after she was admitted, she was transferred to the sixth floor for rehabilitation. They still have not decided how they will close the pouch in her throat. From what I have read online, it will either need to be treated with lazer treatment or stapled closed. We will face that challenge on another day. For now Mom is alive and healing. This is all we can ask for now.

Our first Taxi ride

We flew home Sunday night. We live almost an hour from the Birmingham Airport and it can be a pain to ask someone to take us and expensive to leave our car in the airport garage if we stay more than a long weekend. So this year we chose to take a Taxi. I called America Cab Company prior to deciding to do this, and was surprised how inexpensive it was. It was so nice and a pleasant surprise! We will not hesitate to do this the next time.

Maddie Pie's Second Birthday

Well we had Maddie Pie's birthday party yesterday. What fun! Emily, Rick, and me got her a gift certificate from Belks. Ashley can get her what she needs. I love gift cards! Ashley got her a Vtech computer. Madison totally loved it and once she saw it, we had to make her continue open gifts. Her birthday theme was Sponge Bob. If someone had no idea of who Sponge Bob was, they would before they left. I don't know anyone who doesn't love Sponge Bob and Patrick! Jeremy's Mom and sisters came over too. Kari was here from Spain. Everyone was so glad she was able to come home for the Holidays. Madison just talks and talks. She can put 4-6 words together now and can count to 10!! Smart baby.

We are going to Texas for Christmas. Each time we talk with Alex she will ask "Gamma have you packed your bags yet?" What a sweet girl! She is so excited about seeing us again and I am so thankful for that! I have not done any shopping yet. With us flying we are limited to what we can take. Also, we give our kids gift cards which we all love so all we have to do it buy for the Granddaughters. Two things we want to get for the girls are a digital camera for Alex who just turned 9 and a small bike or skooter for Maddie Pie who will be 2 on the 20th. I love to cook and have just finished my menu for the week. I am sure I will be in the kitchen all day, every day cooking everyone's favorite dishes and loving every minute. I remember how it was to work all day and come home and have to work half the night getting dinner on the table and school work done. I'll try and cook extra's in order to freeze it and let them enjoy it later. Here is a picture of my Grandbabies that Ashley had taken in November. I love these sweet girls!!
